Education in Special School :

57 Students are studying in this special school this year. They are trained and educated with specially designed aids and appliances as well as books in Braille.

Integrated system of education :

Those students who have completed primary education in the campus of this institution are encouraged to enroll themselves in the nearby main stream school where they study with sighted children. Those students who are covered under this system of education are supported by the institution to promote their further studies.

After having completed this secondary and higher secondary education, they are encouraged to pursue their college education. There are 37 students who are going out to various main stream educational institutions for their higher studies.

Education of music :

The students are trained in vocal as well as instrumental music. The examinations of music are conducted by Akhil Bhartiy Gandharva Mahavidyalay Mandal, Miraj Maharashtra.

Music has proved to be a good source of gainful employment for the blind.

Computer training :

Knowledge of computer operation is the need of an hour. Recognizing this very fact, the institution has established a computer lab for imparting training to the student in computer operation with the help of screen reading software which helps the blind to access all computer operating systems and other applications which are performed by sighted people. The computer training is very useful to the blind in communication with the main stream society.

Computerized Braille production centre :

This unit transcribes ink print text books, other educational literature, story books, novels, etc. in Braille with the help of computerized Braille embosser. The unit is very useful in enrichment of knowledge of those who are visually challenged.

Publication of Braille periodical :

"Sangharsh" is a by monthly Braille publication containing variety of articles on current topics. 700 Blind readers are getting this Braille periodical free of cost.

Award of Scholarships :

Blind girls who are not staying in the institution but pursuing higher education either in collages or in the universities anywhere in the state of Gujarat are awarded annual scholarship ranging from Rs. 1500/- to Rs. 3500/-. More than 165 such blind students have been benefited under this scheme last year.

Competitions :

Beneficiaries of the institution enthusiastically participate in local as well as state level competitions such as Music Competition, Braille Reading and writing competitions, Elocution Competition various indoor and outdoor games, Prachin and Arvachin Garbas as well as dancing events. They come out with flying colours in almost all the competitions and events.

Festival Celebrations :

It is very important to educate students for the purpose of celebrating various festivals which promote communal harmony in our society. Following are the festivals which are celebrated every year by our students with traditional gaiety and enthusiasm:

• 15th August – Independence day of India
• 26th January – Republic day of India
• 2nd October and 14th November birth anniversary of our national leaders Mahatma Gandhiji and Nehru Chacha,
• Navratri Mahotsav and Dipavali
• Holi – The festival of Colors
• Rakhsabandhan and so on.

The institution has engaged qualified professionally trained personnel for effective implementation of various above mentioned activities/projects aimed at providing rehabilitative services to persons with visual impairment.
